Let' s Talk About Your Bridal Budget
Date Posted: 3-03-2008
This is the time of year when many newly engaged brides start their search for floral design for their wedding. This should be an enjoyable experience as flowers truly enhance the atmosphere of undoubtedly one of the most memorable days in one's lifetime. I receive many requests for estimates and at times it can be difficult to provide that information without knowing the style of design, type of flowers, and location where they'll be delivered. All of these components play into the final price.
What may be the average for one person isn't the average for another. I think when it comes to budget and estimates you have to be realistic. It can be useful to look at the floral department of your local supermarket to get an idea of cost per stem or cost per a very simple arrangement.
Clearly all floral designers want to show you their best work. We're a proud artistic group of folks that take a tremendous amount of pride in what we do. Our websites show our artistry. Like photos in a magazine these creations normally translate to more elaborate/more expensive budgets.
With respect to delivery fees - again these can vary greatly depending on the distance from the studio to the event and the prep time involved before even leaving the studio with the floral designs safely packed for transport to the event. Heaven help us if there is a bump in the road or a winding mountainous hill to the ultimate breathtaking destination where you'll exchange vows. While we may arrive two to three hours before the actual ceremony time chances are that we've already been working for an additional two to three hours to assure a safe delivery.
I hope that this helps explain the the importance of a realistic budget. All comments are welcome and should you have specific questions please don't hesitate to contact me at ginnygfloral@aol.com. I'm here to help all prospective
brides regardless of budget. Even if you can't afford the $150 centerpiece there are always alternatives and the most important thing to remember is to enjoy the process! It's fun to be the bride! Ginny G Blog Launches!

At last a blog to talk about current events at Ginny G. What a way to start the new year! It's a good month when Mayor Villaraigosa's Office of Protocol calls asking to design for an upcoming event with The Duke of York - AKA Prince Andrew. In the past weeks I've had the pleasure to help in the chandelier selection which will adorn the draped tent where the reception will take place and personally tour the mayor's home. Florally I'll be using Vendela and Avalanche roses, virburnum, green dutch hydrangea, and Pacific Blue Roses in the centerpieces along with crystals and maidenhair fern. My true excitement is the 8' steel/crystal trees that will flank the entrance which I picked up today. There will be more trees inside.
When designing comes from the heart it is truly a labor of love and work for me is play. Look for photos of the event on my website and myspace before Valentines. And how about Valentine's Day?
So many ideas - one order is floral lollipops for a client's childrens teachers! What a wonderful way to express love for people who give so selflessly to our youth!
